Homes in Montclair
Montclair real estate is in an older, eclectic neighborhood. Bordered on the west by Holly Street, the east by Quebec Street, the south by 6th Avenue Parkway and the north by East Colfax Avenue, Montclair was founded by an uncle of the WWI flying-ace Red Baron and is known for the Victorian-style Queen Annes, Denver Squares and neoclassic homes that grace its fence-lined streets.
In truth, the Montclair neighborhood may be one of the most architecturally eclectic in the city. Running the gamut from the Richthofen Castle to angular post-moderns, mammoth Victorians to smooth-faced moderns, sharp-toothed Tudors to broad-shouldered colonials and classic ranches to boxy shotguns, this neighborhood is a picture-book of popular architectural styles. Although it sounds jumbled, the tone of the neighborhood is one of privacy and elegance with four small parks, wide sidewalks and thick mature trees. Although largely singe-family, in addition to the duplexes and townhomes around Mayfair Park there are some older brick apartment buildings closer to Colfax and ranch-style apartments near Quebec. Homes for sale in Montclair are listed with the zip code of 80220.

Sharing the Mayfair Park and the Mayfair Shopping plaza with its name-giving Siamese twin, Montclair claims many of the same amenities as the Mayfair neighborhood. The Mayfair Plaza on the corner of 14th and Krameria Streets is the retail heartbeat of the neighborhood with centrally located Kings Soopers and Safeway grocery stores. Also, Colfax Avenue is a hot spot for fast food, Starbucks and all other creature comforts. Moreover, the high-end Cherry Creek North is just a short ride down 6th.
Unique to Montclair is the small retail cluster along Quebec, which includes the American-fare Spitfire Grill and the Asian-fused Moongate Asian Grill. Also unique to the area are the Montclair, Kittredge and Denson Parks, which are wonderful, wide-open spots of green with mature trees, big playgrounds and scattered picnic areas. Colfax and 6th are major thoroughfares leading to I-25, while Quebec leads to I-70.
There doesn’t seem to be any new construction happening in the Montclair real estate scene, other than the occasional scrape. |
