Homes in the Bonnie Brae Neighborhood
Bonnie Brae is that neighborhood where people spend lazy afternoons admiring the architecture. It's a square half-mile, exclusive and bordered on the north by Exposition Avenue, the south by Mississippi Avenue, the east by Steele Street and the West by University Boulevard.
Known for steep-roofed brick Tudors and fairy-tale ivy-clung cottages, Bonnie Brae real estate also has a fair amount of shuttered colonials and stucco mission houses. Designed to mimic a Scottish village, Bonnie Brae means Pleasant Hill and certainly doesn't fall short. Predominantly, if not completely, comprised of single family residences, it lacks the boxy apartment buildings, gaudy high-rises and industrial condos found in other parts of the city. The streets are curvy, tree-lined and different from the geometric grid that's a staple in Denver.
The center of the neighborhood is Bonnie Brae Park, a small plot of land that seems less for athletic than aesthetic purposes. However, for running, tennis, jogging or any manner of athletics, there's no point in Bonnie Brae more than a mile from neighboring Washington Park with its eight tennis courts, two playgrounds, soccer fields, paved bike path and gravel jogging loop.
Homes for sale in Bonnie Brae are listed with the zip code of 80209.

Like the neighborhood, Bonnie Brae's University Boulevard commercial district is compact and charming, with everything from the upscale Bonnie Brae Wine and Spirits to the homemade Bonnie Brae Ice Cream. Or try the local Italian flair of the long-lived Saucy Noodle or the homespun Seven 30 South Grill. On a larger scale, the chic Cherry Creek Shopping Center and Cherry Creek North are only minutes away and offer all manner of boutiques, salons and upscale shopping. Additionally, Bonnie Brae is surrounded by thoroughfares connecting it with other parts of the city. University leads to Interstate-25 and Cherry Creek North, while Mississippi leads to Washington Park.
There's very little development in the area that isn't renovation. With the compact and well-preserved condition of the area it's unlikely there will be big projects happening soon. |
